The article titled "Pressure to be Perfect: Influences on college students' body esteem” and written by Sheldon is that fashion is an important life aspect with college students worldwide. People in the current generation live and try to behave and become what the general public is perceived to be fashionable and beautiful (Su & Chang, 2018). Particularly students in college always try to conform to what is new and perceived to be the students' fashion. Social psychology's theory indicates that people conform to goals, intentions, beliefs, feelings, and thoughts within their social context.

Women and men in college conform to the pressure of fashion due to low social support and desire to achieve attractiveness and cultural ideals. The fashion models also play a critical part in dictating students' direction towards the fashion arena. For instance, in the United States, the average woman is 5 feet and 4 inches and one hundred and forty pounds in height. However, the most prominent women models have an average height of 5 feet and eleven inches and an average weight of one hundred and twenty pounds (Aronson 2019).

The portrayal of American models with an average weight of one hundred and twenty in social media, television, and the magazine has influenced college students to compare their body weight with the models' weight, thus developing a mechanism to acquire a lower weight (Sheldon, 2010). The article also indicates that men are also influenced by magazines and television images portraying their body images in social media.

Peer pressure and high family are also influences that make men and women conform to the pressure of fashion since students, particularly in college, like to look like most of their peers during education acquisition. Based on the article, both men and women should apply feminism to eradicate bad influences that may threaten their healthy eating and body satisfaction since most of the magazine's images are photoshopped images. Below are ads that may influence women and men to conform to the pressure of fashion in society (Aronson 2019).
