Creation of Family Involvement Plan

Using the program that you read about for the Data Collection Assignment, you will design a Family Involvement Plan for this Child Care Program that is based on Epstein’s Model.

The Family Involvement Plan for this program must include:

1. An introduction (can be an edited version of part 1) 1-2 pages minimum

2. Details outlining how the program can utilize community and family characteristics to impact, influence, and shape the program. Include an outline of the characteristics of the families and community served.  Describe how these efforts will strength the home-school connections. 1-2 paragraphs

3. Describe with full details a Family Involvement Plan that describes 2-3 strategies per that address each element of Epstein’s Model and that actively involves families and the community in the children’s overall development and learning.  Ensure that the strategies are meaningful and appropriate for the center and families they serve.  (NAEYC 2c:  Involving families and communities in their children’s development and learning).  So what 2-3 things can this center do (or do better) to involve families in each of the categories/areas of Epstein's model? 6-9 paragraphs

4. A summary paragraph that brings it all together (how this center can use community and family characteristics to create a plan for engaging families)

The categories of Epstein's model are listed below

·

· Parenting

2.

· Communicating

· Volunteering

· Learning at Home

· Decision Making

· Collaborating with the Community
