Defining Project Scope
Introduction
A project scope contains information about a project. The kind of information in his case is the details of what can be included in the project or what can be excluded from it. (Neville, T. Et al). A project scope in my own terms can be regarded to as a blue print of a project. Trillo Apparel Current (TAC) is an operational company that as four divisions. The company has its headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico and it is estimated to have around 3000 employees as its human resources. The company has intentions of expanding its facilities and moves its facility to a selected location that has sufficient room that can accommodate the company’s production and the shipping department. In this paper we are going to define the scope of this new project or initiative that the company has decided to work on. We are going to look at the project’s objective, its deliverables, milestones, technical requirements, and the review with the customer.
Project Objective
The intent, outcomes and the effects of the project to its target group can be defined to as the project objective. In this case, the intent of the project is to create sufficient room for the company that can accommodate its production and shipping departments. The anticipated outcomes of this project will be deployment of two operations within then company’s operations in one location. The anticipated effect of this project is that it may cause disruptions to the production activities within the company. The company has to renovate its warehouse so that it can accommodate the East district’s operational needs.
Deliverables
The inspections and authorizing of this project can take up to three weeks all this being reliant to the project’s inspector’s flexibility. Contacts have already been granted and the Pack, move and unpack production equipment, and Move non-production equipment and materials will take up to 5days. Framing, drywall, finish work and Build work benches for production floor are set to take place in 15days, and the electrical and the plumping woks can take up to 10days. The project is expected to be completed within 4 months.
Milestones
The milestones that do accompany this project is that the company expects the actual move of the materials that can accommodate the company’s needs has to be done within 5 days and in this case the renovation of the warehouse has to take over two weeks.
Technical requirements
The technical requirements of this project require carpenters, masons, electricians and the necessary manpower and supervision to take place.
Limits and exclusion
The renovation of the ware house is scheduled to take place in two weeks’ time and the movement of equipment into the warehouse has to take place within 5 days so that it can offer minimum disruption to the company’s production activities. This means that the movement of the equipment has to be done away with or postponed until the renovation has completely been done. In this case, the company’s productivity will be affected.
Reviews with the customer
The customer being the company wants this done within a scope of 5 days. In this case, it is quite impossible because the walls have to dry and the complete renovation of the warehouse has to be done so that it can be ready. The customer has to adjust its productivity to provide room for the completion of the project.
