INTRODUCTION

You will take your chosen identity topic and develop an Argumentative Research paper

Your paper should demonstrate that you understand and can execute the following:

· Interesting title

· Compelling introduction which ends with your thesis statement

· Clearly constructed and persuasive argument with compelling reasons

· Strong and effective counter arguments and rebuttals

· Summaries of your sources, as needed

· Use of appeals (ethos, pathos, logos)

· Synthesis—when possible

· Appropriate and correct use of Documentation

· Paper is correctly formatted in MLA or APA, including page numbers

· Correct Works Cited or References page

· Free of grammatical and mechanical errors

· NOTE: It is highly recommended that you make an appointment for a Zoom session with the Writing Center. I would make the appointment in advance of the due date in case they get busy. If you provide proof of your meeting, you will receive one point extra credit.

You will also need to do substantial research to develop your understanding of your topic.  The following prompts are optional and are only here to help you think more deeply:

· What assumptions lead the authors to think differently from each other?

· What evidence do they present to support their point of view?

· Can you find any common ground between the authors? The sources can agree or disagreement.

DELIVERABLES

The essay should be no less than 8 full pages and you must use a minimum of 7 sources. To get to this length, you must discuss several reasons that support your thesis.

You will post your final draft along with your Reflection on Canvas. No drafts or peer reviewed copies need to be submitted.

NOTE: You must include a Reflection that addresses the following. Please remember I want detailed, thoughtful answers in an essay format.
