Fahrenheit and American Culture are similar in their Consideration of Complacent Society.

Complacency means to be in a secure state without considering the potential issues such as either self or smug satisfaction that occurs with the existing conditions. Assumptions that the status quo is likely to remain in the society for long equals to blindsiding yourself. It means in a community, if people consider their complacency to be secure, they can be the source of their danger zone. In Fahrenheit, technology has caused most people to feel safe. A character like Faber relates leisure as the period where one can interact with technology; have fun, or get entertained (pg. 108). However, Faber views technology as having negatively impacted society because people live curious lives and are also in a hopeless state of mind.

In American culture, people no longer strive to do their best; they live in comfort zones, not knowing the zones may turn out to be dangerous. In the competitive era that Americans are living in, people are likely to love others' jobs. If some people in the market do enough only to get by their jobs, they may lose them; thus, they need to be aware and add value that will either meet or exceed the expectations of American society.
