Facial Proportions & The Canon of Beauty
FSS 131 Restorative Art I
Needs:
Pages 82-84
Ruler
Pencil
Printed photo
Having several copies may help
First Step:
Print a full page photo (color or black and white)
Works best on regular paper instead of glossy
Invert the Photo
It is easier to see asymmetry and bilateral differences
AND, it makes your task more objective
Let’s Begin…
For demonstration purposes, I am going to leave the photo in it’s original position
Step 2:
Find the vertex of the cranium and the base of the chin
This will help you find the Line of Eye Closure
Step 3:
Find Equal Thirds of the Face:
Hairline to Eyebrows
Eyebrows to Base of Nose
Base of Nose to Base of Chin
Measure vertically from the hairline to the base of the chin and divide into 3 equal segments
