transformed over the years. The critical concept applied in the production of the album ‘the epic'
was integrating international hip-hop style with jazz instruments. Also, the producers in the song
met the sound waves of the musicians. It was achieved by first listening to the hip-hope sound to
understand which areas to edit. This tactic helped Kamasi, the jazz artist, connect with the
audience through hip-hop and Jazz and how to service the song. Since he is a saxophone
instrument player, listening to the hip-hop theme's sound waves enabled her to come up with the
exciting saxophone sound records.

jazz music.
Personal reaction to the song.
After listening to the Epic, it sounds like a generational intervention. It is more of an
educational approach that presents the styles used in Jazz music. I could feel Kamasi's sense of
melodrama in every chorus of the song. Washington, together with his musicians, sequenced the

presentation in a pair of dramatic arts. Kamasi leads the solo performance perfectly with a
centred sound and rhythmic vibe, which draws in the listeners and audience. Also, I noticed how
he aligns his music with a traditional sense of struggle in which he attempts to tell a story.
