Systems Quality and Robustness Analysis

Extra Credit Options

Intent:

The intent of the course is to ensure students truly become versed in Quality Management concepts well enough to be impactful in client environments. As we have progress through the class, there are several concepts expressed, either an advancement on previous knowledge from reliability, statistics, or engineering sciences; or new approaches to applying Six Sigma and Lean to engineering projects. My expectation for each of you is to take away enough knowledge to add a quality viewpoint to your management, operations, and development insight.

Objective:

With this said, I’ve decided to incorporate an extra credit assignment for students that are currently below an A-, to provide an additional opportunity to advance your knowledge and learn additional perspectives on Quality Management for these types of projects.

Below are specific topics that could be expanded further in our course this semester:

· Sampling Approaches

· DOE and ANOVA

· Response Modeling

· Hypothesis Testing (t-test and Chi-square test)

Each of these topics are additional insight that can enhance your ability to analyze and improve your Quality project.

Task:

I will assign a topic to each of you. My expectations are for you to develop an instruction deck on this topic to include:

· An Introduction and Description

· How best to leverage and use this technique (i.e. which part of the DMAIC)?

· Tactical Examples

This should be delivered in MS PowerPoint format, and, on average, 18 – 20 slides. Once validated this will be shared with the class as back up information.

Due Date:

· Wednesday May 5th by 7PM.

Please look at the previous lectures to understand some of the format. You will be graded on format and content beyond current knowledge covered in the course so far. This means you must be resourceful enough to go beyond the required text for this class.
