Link Outcomes from My First Course to My Workplace
The importance of project management within any organization cannot be ignored. Every organization undertakes projects on a regular basis, and it is up to the individuals who are familiar with the process of any project to ensure that it is a success. During my project management course, one of the key areas that we tackled was the planning of any project. The success of the planning process forms the foundation for every activity that will be taken in the fulfillment of the said project. For planning to be effective, there has to be effective communication between the different parties involved, most probably from different departments of the organization.
Project management methodology entails various aspects, for example, change, quality, risk, and configuration management (Newton, 2013). It is important to ensure that the team members are provided with adequate information of these areas, for example, an area such as risk management, as part of the project management methodology. Every project is also faced with a variety of limitations and challenges, and the successful execution of any project is important. It is at the execution phase of any project that individuals with the required skills for the execution may be hired or consulted, roles of team members are clearly defined, and accountability is encouraged. Milestones are also used in any project as a guidance system of evaluating the progress of the project at various stages. Milestones may entail short or long-term goals.
Link Outcomes from My Second Course to My Workplace
Technology has become a major aspect of any organization’s business, and a course such as information systems infrastructure is highly encouraged. Most of an organization’s process has been mechanized and integrated with information technology, and therefore management always fosters to hire individuals that are knowledgeable in such areas. Through the knowledge of information systems infrastructure, I am capable of recognizing technology trends that may enhance the operation in any organization. Recognition of trends also facilitates the provision of a support and initiative within the workplace. Information system infrastructure has specific aspects, for example, hardware and software, which has enabled me to familiarize myself with the information technology aspect of any business.
An aspect of information systems infrastructure that has become an important part of today’s business is cloud computing. Cloud computing is the practice of utilization of remote servers, usually located in a different location, for the management, processing, and storage, and processing of data facilitates by the availability of the internet (Rajaraman, 2013). Cloud computing has not only facilitated availability and accessibility, but it has also enhanced the safety of an organization’s data. Through big data, organizations have the capabilities of handling database systems, through a proper organization and enhanced access. Through big data, I have been able to develop real-time data that has facilitated in development of progress reports.
Applying Work Experiences to My First Course
I have worked in various organization, but I found out that project management was best applied when it came to IT organization. In such organizations, we were mostly involved in the development of software, mobile application, websites, and databases just to name a few. In such cases, these projects were numerous, and, therefore, offered opportunities for enhancement of our project management skills. I was mostly involved in the role of a project manager, which entailed oversight to ensure that the project’s execution went smoothly. We were mostly involved in the creation of project plans, which entailed detailed timelines that offered strict date of completion.
Examining the development of the Qlik dashboard, project management facilitated the creation of milestones, an aspect that I am currently more than familiar with, that were used for examination of the project’s progress, and various activities were assigned to specific individuals accordingly. After learning this course, I was able to know how projects were priced and ways through which management practiced pre-existing relationships with the clients, so that these conversations were mostly centered on progress reports to ensure longevity. In addition, I can say that I am more of a team player currently than I was when I was taking the course, as the work environment forces one to engage with others, as most projects are not centered on individualism.
Applying Work Experiences to My Second Course
My work experience has been quite technical and diverse, as I have been working on various information technology components, for example, Qlik dashboards to access and share point. I have also been heavily invested in the development of solutions, specifically those geared towards the development of connectivity solutions, to examining various reasons that may lead to server failure in an organization. Through work experience, I can say that my course on Information system infrastructure has played the biggest role, as I always find myself applying different aspects of what I learned almost on a daily basis.
Specifically examining the Qlik dashboard, I am mostly involved in examining the functionality of the dashboard in real time and the impact that big data. I was also involved in the process of development and implementation of the Qlik dashboard system, and at the same time we also integrated various databases within the system, for example, ORACLE and SQL and utilized clusters such as ODBC and OLEDB, which primarily network driver connections. The practical knowledge acquires through my work experience supplemented the theoretical part that I had acquired from my information systems infrastructure course and also enhanced what I already knew even further.
Work Proposal
Currently at XXXXXX I am working in were being charged with the responsibility of developing dashboards, that facilitate multiple user accessibilities, as well as enabling managers of projects to assess team member’s performance. The organization is what can be considered as an IT firm, and is in a sphere that is not only innovative but also highly competitive. Some of the elements that the dashboards we develop entail include information about human resource, diversity information, portfolio project management just to name a few. The organization is also majorly involved in the handling of any production aspects of a project, as well as monitoring the applications to ensure that failures are adequately and swiftly dealt with. Qlik, a tool that the organization utilizes in the development of our databases, enhances the user experience and integrates different elements such as graphs and trending charts. From my experience working within an organization, I can say that I have definitely learned a lot, for example, aspects such as big data and project management process in the real world. My recommendations come in the process of creating milestones for upcoming projects, to facilitate tracking of a project’s progress and overall status.
Conclusion
It is quite evident that what individuals acquire while in learning institutions have a direct effect on their experience in the workplace. I can attest to this, as when I officially joined an organization, my knowledge on project management and information systems infrastructure was immediately called upon. Project Management is a course that mainly focuses on the execution, initiation, and planning process in order to fulfill certain goals under specified criteria. Information system infrastructure, on the other hand, is a course that deals with telecommunication networks, software and hardware, and databases. The success of the planning process, in project management, formed the foundation for every activity that will be taken in the fulfillment of a project. Project management methodology is also important as it entails various aspects, for example, change, quality, risk, and configuration management.
The importance of the information systems infrastructure course that I took cannot be ignored, as the organization I work in can be considered as an Information Technology (IT) firm. Working on Qlik dashboards which aims at enhancing access and share point for the clients, I was also heavily invested in the development of solutions, specifically those geared towards the development of connectivity solutions, to examining various reasons that may lead to server failure in an organization. Some of the elements that the dashboards we develop entail include information about human resource, diversity information, portfolio project management just to name a few. The importance of cloud computing in today’s world cannot be ignored, especially with the advancement of the World Wide Web. Cloud computing is the practice of utilization of remote servers, usually located in a different location, for the management and storage of data facilitated by the availability of the internet. Cloud computing has not only facilitated availability and accessibility, but it has also enhanced the safety of an organization’s data.
