Experiment 376 – Dissociation Constant of a Weak Acid
Online Lab Instructions
1. Print the data sheets and then watch the video. The calculations and data in the video may not match the data given to you for your lab but the experimental procedure is the same.
2. Perform the following calculations:
a. Do the math required on the data sheets using instructions 1 – 8 on the calculations page.
b. Calculate Ka using the data sheet.
c. Calculate Ka using the graphical method in step 9.
3. Answer the following questions
a. What was the initial pH of the acid in the video?
b. How much base was added in each addition in the video?
c. What was the final pH in the video?
d. What was the acid and the pKa determined in the video.
4. Submit the following in either MSWord or pdf. No other formats will be accepted.
a. The two data sheets.
b. The answers to the questions above.
c. The graph. NOTE: One person cannot make the graph and copy it for a group.
