Google search feedback response
The Brazil Query
It included four participants, the first participant is a white male who is of the age 27 and his political affiliation is liberalish. The second participant is a white female of the age 21 whose political affiliation is moderate liberal. The third participant is a white male of the age 21 and whose political affiliation is moderate liberal. The fourth participant is a middle eastern female of the age 23 whose political affiliation is liberal.
My expectations for this query is that there would be a lot of filtering and I would see a lot of similar results on the google search because a lot of the demographic characteristics of the participants were similar ( example is within the a=same generation and also mostly liberal). Also they have two males and two females so I feel that levels the play field.
After seeing the results of the google search, the first and second participants had most similar results while the third participant had a few similar searches. The fourth participant had completely different search results. I think that for the fourth participant there was a lot of filtering due to ethnic background. The first three participants all received the same “brazil-Wikipedia” search result.
The 2020 Election Query
It included four participants, the first is a white female who is of the age 24 and has no political affiliation. The second participant is a white male of the age 21 and whose political affiliation is moderate conservative. The third participant is a white male of the age 20 and whose political affiliation is liberal. The fourth participant is middle eastern male of the age 52 whose political affiliation is moderate liberal.
My expectations for this query is that I expect the mostly that they will get similar results for the google search but maybe a slight difference for the fourth participant because he has a different ethnicity as well as coming from a different age group. Also there are three males and one female so I think for the three males there will be more similar results.
After seeing the results of the google search, The first two participants received very similar search results. The first and last participant received the same “How to save the 2020 election” video. All four participants under “the people also search for” were prompted to search for “Brexil”.
The Oman History Query
It included four participants, the first participant is a white female of the age 32 and whose political affiliation is liberal. The second participant is a white male of the age 21 and whose political affiliation is moderate liberal. The third participant is a white male of the age 57 and whose political affiliation is liberal. The fourth participant is a middle eastern female of the age 29 and whose political affiliation is liberal.
My expectations for this query are that I expect to see similar results in the google search due to mostly having the same ethnic background as well as similar political affiliation. I also expect differences in the results because they are not from the same age groups. Also they have two males and two females and I feel that has 50/50 chance of similar results.
After seeing the results of the google search, I can see that our four participants have similar results, I think the topic plays a huge role and they also have the same political affiliation. One search result they all received is “Oman-Wikipediae” search result.
The Climate Change Query
It included four participants, the first participant is a white male of the age 57 and whose political affiliation is liberal. The second participant is white male of the age 60 whose political affiliation is moderate. The third participant is a white female of the age 80 whose political affiliation is conservative. The fourth participant is a middle eastern female of the age 47 whose political affiliation is conservative.
My expectations for this query unlike all the other queries, I think this will have more differences in the google search than similarities. The first reason I that they have different political affiliations and come from different age groups. Also since they have an equal ratio of male and female I thing that may play a role in setting apart the differences.
After seeing the results of the google search, The first two participants have similar results for the google search because they have similar ethnic background and belong to same age group as well as being the same gender. One search result I noticed that the first three participants have is a picture of the “the projected timing of abrupt…” but the last participant has different search results.
Based on the results I found that google does filter search results based on certain demographic characteristics of a person (whether it is age, ethnicity, gender, etc..). On the larger scale that it means we are restricted in our search for knowledge and truth since we don’t get to see all the search results that are out there.
