Tione Dalyan Merritt was born in the South Bronx, a town in the city of New York just before the 9/11 terrorism attack on USA on April 30, 2001. Tjay was condemned to a juvenile correctional institution at the age of 15 for minor offences and brawls. After returning to the United States in late 2017, he resumed releasing songs on SoundCloud.
