Research Project Annotated Outline
Hello Students
I know many of you are struggling with the Annotated Outline. I hope this helps:
An annotated outline is daunting, but it essentially comes down to this: It is formatted like a regular outline, but you just need to expand each point with a few sentences. Because this is an outline of your final research paper, I suggest you follow this outline from the final week:
· Introduction and Background
· Statement of the problem
· Significance of the problem
· Populations served
· Proposed solution
· Research questions
· Methodology
· Conceptual framework
· Method
· Design
· Rationale
· Planning strategy
· Ethical Considerations and Concerns
· Management Plan
· Proposed timeline
· Feasibility
· Anticipated challenges
· References
Your outline may look like this, hypothetical, outline (let's assume the paper is about HIV and aging):
I. Introduction and Background
A. History of HIV and Advances in Treatment
a. First diagnosed cases of HIV in the United States
b. Treatment advances over the past decades. HIV is now considered a chronic disease and persons with HIV can live as long as everyone (Smith, 2022)
B. Statement of the Problem
a. We know persons living with HIV are living longer than ever before, but we do not know what it is like to grow older with HIV.
b. Research shows that aging with HIV can have physical, emotional, and social challenges (Smith, 2022; Brown, 2019; Hill & Meyers, 2018)
C. Significance of the Problem
a. According to the CDC (2022), nearly half of all persons living with HIV are over the age of 55.
b. There is a growing rate of older adults who have been diagnosed with HIV, or are aging with HIV (Brown, 2019)
.....and so on. I hope this example helps.
