Directions: Find 5 different self-correcting activities online. The 5 options must all be different; this means you cannot submit 5 different types of puzzles. You will only receive credit for 1 self-correcting activity if you do that. Evaluate each self-correcting activity, connect with a GELDS, and write a lesson idea to use with each. If you thoroughly complete the template, you will have all the required information.
Grading: This is a 20-point assignment. Each of the 5 activities is worth 5 points each.

This is self-correcting because to complete this seriation activity the child can only place one peg in each slot in order to fill up the rows. A child can’t put a peg in a slot that is too small and the peg is too small if they choose a slot that is too big. This activity naturally is designed to self-correct the child the chose and figure out the correct slot for each peg. |

I would use this in the classroom when talking about seriation and different sizes. We would read Three Billy Goats Gruff to introduce different sizes, as the Billy Goats in the story are small, medium and large. Children would be given different sized die cut circles (small, medium and large). First, they will sort the circles into 3 different piles by size. Then, they will practice placing them in order from smallest to largest. After the activity, I would have several of the wooden peg activities out at the math center. During free choice time, they can practice the skill of seriation further. |
