The median HDL in Butler County is 52.07, while the median LDL is 115.31. No

significant difference was found between the sites. Total cholesterol risk is distributed as follows

across the sample: low risk, 60.3%; moderate risk, 26.7%; and high risk, 13.0%. We found that

1.5% of those screened are at risk of atherosclerosis.

When looking at systolic blood pressure risk, we separated these into categories of low,

moderate and high risk. We found that North Butler Elementary has the lowest risk at 57.7% and

the Bus Garage has the highest risk at 10%. There is no significant difference in systolic blood

pressure based on site. When looking at diastolic blood pressure risk, we found that the Middle

School has the lowest risk of 68.8% and the Bus Garage has the highest risk at 25%. There is no

significant difference in diastolic blood pressure based on site. When we compile both systolic

and diastolic blood pressures, we found that North Butler has the lowest risk at 42.31% and the

Bus Garage has the highest risk at 25%.

In Butler County, total body mass index (BMI) across sites is classified as underweight,

normal weight, over weight and obese. All sites had 0% underweight except North Butler which

had 3.8% of staff being underweight and also with the highest rate of normal weight with 30.8%.

The high school had the highest rates of obesity at 54.8%. We found there is no significant

difference in BMI across sites. A comparison was also done across sites, the county and the state

of Kentucky which concluded there is a significant difference between the sample from the High

School and the state of Kentucky. The lowest BMI was at North Butler Elementary at 28 BMI

and the highest at the Bus Garage at 32.9 BMI.

participants as low risk and 28.2% as high risk. The highest percentage of people with high risk

waist circumference is found at the Middle School (43.8%), while the lowest percentage is found

at North Butler Elementary (15.4%). According to our analysis, there were no significant

differences between any of the sites and the US population (39.48”), but the difference between

the county-wide waist size and that of the US population is significant.

participants at high risk glucose levels. The Bus Garage had the lowest overall risk with 90% of

participants screening low risk and 0% screening high risk. Across the county, only 2.3% of

participants screened positive for applicable risk factors to be considered at risk for diabetes. The

highest rate of diabetes risk was at Morgan Elementary (4.8%), while at both the Bus Garage and

North Butler Elementary 0% of people screened had a risk of diabetes.

We also looked to see if there were relationships between some specific variables. Within

our sample, no relationships were found between the following: systolic blood pressure and LDL

cholesterol, high risk cholesterol and high-risk waist circumference, high risk triglyceride levels

and high-risk systolic blood pressure, glucose and total cholesterol, smoking and risk of

atherosclerosis, and finally smoking and risk of diabetes.
