career goals base off resume
My goal is to apply to be a Diplomatic Security Special Agent with the U.S. Department of State. This Special Agent (SA) job is a multifaceted job that holds multiple responsibility that can/will change depending on where the SA is stationed. While stateside the DS Special Agents are in-charge of visa and passport fraud (amongst other things). They also lead and manage U.S. diplomatic mission security programs at overseas posts to include protection of personnel, facilities, and sensitive information along with oversight of the U.S. Marine Security Guard and local security guard programs (careers.state.gov). This job caught my eye due to the multitude of responsibilities that these special agents hold.
My strongest attributes that would make me a strong candidate for this job are:
· U.S. Military experience
· knowledge of management
· conceptual skills
· Fine-tuned social skills
· Currently hold a security clearance
· Will have a degree upon applying
As far as my resume is concerned, there were a few changes I made to bolster these attributes that will separate me from other applicants. I highlighted my time spent in the military as well as my current role which show my knowledge of management, conceptual skills, and social skills. I re-worded specific roles to use words in the job listing that the posting highlights as qualifications. One of the last changes I made to my resume was consolidating it so it wasn't so long. I compared my current resume to the resume template and trimmed it down, while emphasising the most important pieces.
Hope you are having a great holiday season!
