As a wedding planner, I’d like to think that I would have looked into this well before a week until the wedding. If I had known this weeks or even months before, I would have discussed with the bride to find out her thoughts on the situation. There would have been a lot more time to come up with the absolute best alternative for this problem. But since this is not the case, and we are unprepared- I’d be in full panic mode. I would not inform my clients yet because I want to come to them with a few solutions so they do not panic. First thing I’d do is try to figure out an alternative where I can still have the babysitting company take care of the kids. This is because the clients originally wanted their guests to not worry about babysitters, include their kids, but at the same time keep them occupied.

I would start off by researching if there are any halls or small venues near by the wedding venue. If there was a place near-by, I would call and find out the rental fee as well as how much it would be to cater some type of food to the hall. The guests could drop off their kids at the hall on the way to the wedding venue and pick them up after. The company that my clients had hired could still work and it is not an extra cost that I have to present to my clients. I would present this to my clients while letting them know what happened with the wedding venue and babysitting company. At the same time letting them know this is the best solution for this problem or else we would have to tell the guests no kids.
