Mr. Corey Edgar PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP 2001 Ross Avenue, Suite 1800 Dallas, TX 75201

Dear Mr. Edgar:

Elizabeth Brown, my accounting professor at Richland College, recommended that I email you directly concerning a position that is currently open in the Accounting Department at PricewaterhouseCoopers. I expect to receive my Associate in Applied Sciences degree in Business Administration, with a major in Accounting from Richland College in December 2016.

I have experience in customer support, which is a much needed skill for the accounting industry in today’s market. I possess excellent analytical skills and have the ability to analyze situations accurately and effectively. I am also an excellent listener and communicator who conveys information verbally and in writing. During my time at Richland College, I have had the privilege of working with a number of class groups. In my business math course, I was tasked with keeping track of the expenses for a mock company. This group project was complex and had multiple steps. In addition to utilizing him analytical skills, I had to employ my listening and communication skills to facilitate effective communication within my group. The group ended up with an A+ on the project, and my portion of the accounting received a special note from the instructor for my attention to detail.

I appreciate you taking the time to read more about the skills I have to offer. I would love the opportunity to learn more about your firm and show you how I could apply my skills, experiences, and education to add value to your firm. Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or 972-643- 0837. I look forward to hearing from you about the current job opportunity soon.

Sincerely,

Alissa Harris Alissa Harris

Dr. Shalyn Proussad Biomedical Microdevices and Nanotechnology Laboratory University of Texas at Dallas 400 W. Arapaho Rd. Richardson, TX 75080

Dear Dr. Proussad,

This upcoming May, I will be completing my associates in science and transferring to your campus, University of Texas at Dallas the following fall to complete my bachelors in biology. One of your students in your microbiology course by the name of Marilyn Gomez told me about the lab research opening in your lab for this summer. She mentioned you are looking for a passionate student who would be willing to do research in the lab over the summer on different strands of viruses. I believe I am that student.

I have developed and had the opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills throughout my time at Richland College. I have organized events and led students in them such as College Completion Week on campus, organizing community garden events, and hosting scholarship workshops. I am currently employed as a STEM Tutor on campus. This job requires me to listen patiently to students, as they explain to me what they do not understand. Then, the student and I work together to achieve a better understanding of the course assignment.

Biology has always been my passion and I enjoy sharing my interest with others and helping others to understand biology better. I have received high grades in all of my science related courses, particularly on lab assignments. I enjoy the challenge of learning new scientific processes.

I believe my skills and experience will prove to be an excellent match for your lab position. I have attached a copy of my resume with additional information of my internship experiences, volunteering services, and job experiences. I would love to sit down for an interview and prove myself as an asset to your team. Please feel free to contact me at (972) 235-6583. I look forward to your email or phone call. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.

Sincerely,
