Original email

“I wanted to welcome you ASAP to our little family here in the States. It’s high time we shook hands in person and not just across the sea. I’m pleased as punch about getting to know you all, and I for one will do my level best to sell you on America.”

New email

Good Afternoon,

I just wanted to extend to you a warm welcome to our branch here in America. I look forward to finally getting some long overdue FaceTime with you instead of just over the phone. Myself along with all of my associates will do our very best to make you feel right at home here in America.

Reasons for changes

In formal work emails it is important to make sure to have a proper introduction and to avoid using unprofessional slang terms such as “pleased as punch” Milman says it is important to maintain a sense of formality when communicating especially in documented things such as emails. Milman goes on to mention that proofreading emails before you send them may help you not regret sending them in the future. It is also important to consider if sending an email is even necessary to me in this form it may be best to greet the new employee face to face to establish a lasting bond with these people.
