SLEEP AND DREAMS ARTICLE SUMMARY 2

Sleep and Dreams Article: Summary and Critical Analysis

Part I: Article Summary

Introduction

This is the section where you would write about the introduction section. Don’t forget to

add your in-text citation. It should look something like the next sentence. Palmer-Hague (2014)

has reminded us to talk about the research question and/or hypothesis in this section. Or, it could

look something like the next sentence. It is very important to include the research question and/or

hypothesis in this section (Palmer-Hague, 2014).

Methods

This is the section where you will describe how the study was done. Don’t forget to tell

me if your study is an experiment or a non-experiment. Then, you need to tell me what the

variables were. Which one is the independent variable? Which one is the dependent variable?

Remember that non-experiments don’t have independent and dependent variables, but measured

variables.

Results

This is where you should list the study results. One or two sentences should suffice.

Don’t get caught up with statistical jargon. Do not include numbers.

Discussion

This section should include a discussion of how the study results relate back to the

original research question and/or study hypothesis. Make sure you say something about how this

research applies to real-life and offer suggestions for future research. This section should only be

a few sentences long because you have a lot more room for your critique in the next section.

SLEEP AND DREAMS ARTICLE SUMMARY 3

Remember that once you are done this part of the paper, you will need to highlight and annotate

your actual article. Attach it at the back of your assignment. Page numbers are not required.

Part II: Critical Analysis

In this section, you should write freely about your impressions of the study you read.

What are the strengths? What are the weaknesses? How do you view the study and/or results

from your Christian worldview? Remember to think critically. Many human issues are much

more complex than we initially might think. If you cite the bible in this section, please ensure

that you do so properly, according to APA.
