Dear English, Literature, and Speech Department:

I am writing this letter today to declare my readiness to advance beyond English 101. (Describe briefly your history of English and Composition learning to depict your education in language arts; highlight challenges and successes of the past; introduce the pertinent work you've done in this class, then present a single thesis statement, such as, "Considering my efforts and their attention to challenges I have faced throughout my language education, my advancement from English 101 is best represented by my ability to [name your three best outcomes] and also my ability to self-assess areas that still need improvement."

Body Paragraph 1: Discussion of 1st outcome) Naming the outcome; your engagement with it (a brief look at your process), and representative examples within the portfolio that show you, in fact, can do the thing you are discussion, i.e. –"As found in the second body paragraph of my short essay, my use of source material, and its integration, into my own prose, is clearly competent and useful to making my points".

BP4 ---You dedicate an entire paragraph to discussing (identifying) your continuing challenges, and how you addressed them in this and how you will address them in the future.

Conclusion Paragraph: Make sure you summarize all the topics; restate your thesis (purpose and point); make sure that all your paragraphs, including the conclusion are about the same size and depth of development.
