In terms of planning an Event this class has been very incredibly informative. I was very
naïve in my thought process as to how much went into the event planning process. The strategic
planning phase I felt was a mind-blowing learning experience with many different strategies
involved such as the studying of the market in which you will be operating, how big is the area,
having an overall sense of the market and the feasibility of doing my event in this area. Using the
SWOT technique (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) allows for me to evaluate
my companies SWOT and have the awareness to make corrections and or additions were needed.
Budgeting is also very important needing to be followed as precisely as possible. When
allotting funds for certain events many thought, and research go into this. Doing due diligence by
researching past events that are similar to mine at venues that are basically the same size and
offer the same type of facilities, this will allow me to create a budget that should be relatively
easy to stick to. Marketing is a huge obstacle that this course has shown me how to overcome.
Different types of marketing such as digital, seo, ppc pay per click, email marketing as well as
content marketing and others have been brought into my conscience and will allow me to move
forward and be successful in the marketing world.
Communication and sponsorship are truly needed skills in order to be successful. Having
the ability to communicate with other business owners and employees is a mark of a successful
business person. When having the opportunity to speak and people actually listen that is a
blessing. This is a much-needed skill in terms of accruing sponsorships for events and such. The
se companies need to believe that you are working not only in your best interest but theirs as
well.
