The aspects of authentic leadership that are observed in the four unexpected qualities of good leaders include self-awareness, internalized moral perspective, relational transparency, and balanced processing. Self-awareness is considerably the personal insights of a leader. In that case, self-awareness is a process, whereby individuals understand themselves, including their weaknesses and strengths, including how they impact others. Self-awareness is about reflecting on core values, motives, emotions, goals, and identity.
Balanced processing is known to be a self-regulatory behavior. An individual also can analyze information objectively while exploring the opinions of other people before making the necessary decision. Again, relational transparency is more about being honest and open while presenting one’s true self to followers. Relational transparency is self-regulating since it is upon leaders to control their transparency with followers.
