Identify store

Identify demographics of primary and secondary target markets. Chapter 5 ppt. slides from the Ogden

book will help you. You may have a tertiary market if you wish. Also, discuss psychographics of these

markets. Identify the trade area within a five, 15 and 25 mile radius of the site you have selected for

your store. Once again chapter 7 of the Ogden book will help you understand this information. P. 187.

Please discuss behavioristic data and geodemographic data analysis which can be found in Chapter of

the Ogden book.

Identify what type of layout you will be using for your store.

Please look to p. 171 of Ogden or the ppt. slides in chapter 7 to help you understand the various types of

centers such as community center, neighborhood centers, mixed use projects, Lifestyle centers, outlet

centers, Internet malls such as Sky Mall, Regional Shopping Malls, Super Regional Shopping Malls,

Central Business Districts and free standing sites.

Transportation Considerations

Please discuss site considerations such as parking availability.

Economic indicators

Please key in the city and state into the Internet i.e. Seattle, Washington and also the words economic

indicators. Please look at income levels, unemployment level, how many business licenses were granted

in the previous years, housing costs and education level. This should give you a lot of valuable

information to be used in the Situation Analysis section.

Situation Analysis

Market and site analysis. For example, housing costs are very high in California. But not so for Seattle.

Seattle also has a very stable high income job market which does not fluctuate. Also, check into whether

or not residents have to pay state income taxes. Please make sure that you consider online

opportunities as well. Please focus on the fear impact going back into shopping centers caused by the

COVID 19 pandemic. Please look at the unemployment rate for the area and the demographic you are

targeting.
