1. Why is it important for a diplomat to know where a local culture stands on the power distance dimension of culture?

2. Give a specific example on whether peace education can improve intercultural understanding. 

3. How would you modify the communication experience between the Turkish and American school children we read about? Why?

4. Identify the connection between sustainable development and intercultural understanding.

 

II: Write an essay of  6-8 paragraphs: (80 points): Choose only one of the following:

Discuss conditions, factors, events, or activities that affect intercultural understanding. Offer your own conclusion.

 

OR

 

Discuss mutual recognition: its relationship to stereotypes, diversity and intercultural understanding.

 

A strong essay would have a clear introduction, an argument statement, a discussion supporting the key argument, and a conclusion summarizing the analysis. Also, the essay must define terms, use examples and refer to the sources of the course.
