IBUS 590 Web-based Research Resources Exercises

The purpose of this exercise is to familiar you with a variety of web-based research resources where you can collect information and data for conducting your Global Business Expansion Plan.

Instructions:

1. Visit the GlobalEdge website at http://globaledge.msu.edu/resourcedesk/

Go to Global Resource Directory. This site contains information/data for your term project analysis. I have categorized these relevant sub-sites on next page, such as Country Level Analysis, Culture, Standards and Conversion…etc.

2. From that list, please select a site to work on. For example, you can choose CIA Word Factbook from the Country Level Analysis category, or Executive Planet under the Culture category…etc.

3. Then, write an one page report on:

a. What is the website about? (A brief introduction about the website, such as its title, the publisher, and general information on the website.)

b. Use the Term Project Guideline as a reference and indicate clearly what particular information on the website can be used for Part I, and Part II analysis.

* Please be as specific as possible on this. For example, you may indicate that certain information could be used for country level analysis on assessing the economic and political environment analysis (e.g., data such as GDP, Political Risk Index…etc.)

c. Conclude with your rating/comments on this website regarding its usefulness and ease of use.
