About a quarter of the US population use statins to treat cardiovascular illnesses.
Statins have also been used in combination with other therapeutic agents such as non-renin angiotensin system agents (RAS) to speed up recovery period.
Scientific evidence also reveal that statins can be utilized to reverse cognitive impairment.

Developing PICOT Question
My PICOT question was developed based on a clinical case.
The case involved an aged woman with memory loss and normal lipid profile.
The PICOT question was the use of Atorvastatin to slow down memory loss in aging females with no chronic disease and a normal cholesterol level.
The question was formulated to address my clinical interest as stated above.

Searching Databases
Databases such as PubMed, Biomed Central, CINAHL and Cochrane Library were used.
Relevant key words “atorvastatin” and “memory loss” were used to search databases.
In PubMed, 30 articles were obtained while in Biomed Central, 68 articles were retrieved.
