Evaluation Design
Students will design an evaluation of a program of their choosing. Ideally, the design of the evaluation study that they propose should be one that, if funded, would provide systematic feedback to interested decision-makers. The evaluation designs for the project include a process evaluation (see definition in the textbook) of an ongoing social service program or an impact study of a major community initiative.
The evaluation design paper should:
1. describe the selected program,
2. the theory underlying the program,
3. the evaluation questions,
4. the evaluation design,
5. the input/output/outcome measures
6. It should then discuss the merits/limitations of the proposed design and the policy implications of the expected evaluation results.
If students choose a program or policy that is proposed, but not yet implemented, they can apply the program elements toward designing a program.
For this assignment, you are required to lay out the proposed study/evaluation as a proposal for policy makers.
The paper should include:
· a cover letter
· the proposed evaluation design
· a technical appendix, if required.
