Evaluation and recommendation Organizational Culture
EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS FEEDBACK 09/16/2021
1) Describes the company’s culture in detail, and considers one or more of the aspects (shared assumptions, values, and beliefs, type of culture and subcultures, and areas of agreement or disagreement among employees) of organizational culture. NOT MASTERED!!!!!
09/01/21 You are off to a good start by determining the type of culture as a Clan Culture; however, you must identify the data from the assessment that supports this selection. What specific data shows that the culture is reflective of a clan culture? Additionally, as you consider the type of culture, be sure to identify the subculture that exists within the organization. For example, a subculture can arise when smaller subsets of employees have a different perspective, view, or value than the larger group of employees (i.e. 5% of employees believe that teamwork is not effective in the organization while 95% appreciate the organization's efforts in this area). Project Resource: Unit Resources>Fundamentals of Organizational Culture>Principles of Management>Chapter 8.2 Measuring Organizational Culture>Dimensions of Culture Chapter 8.2 in the resource, Principles of Management under the heading, Dimensions of Culture, identifies seven types of cultures. Evaluating these dimensions combined with the characteristics of the culture can help to determine the type of culture that exists and understand how this influences employee behavior and action.
2) Describes in detail the best practices to effectively administer a cultural assessment while considering strategies the new HR manager can use to mitigate potential biases in the data. NOT MASTERED!!!!!
09/01/21 Although you were able to consider the importance of areas such as onboarding, incentives, and leadership, more is needed to address this area. Please consider that the cultural assessment is a survey that will measure employee attitudes, feelings, and perceptions about the culture. From this perspective, you will need to consider how to deploy a new survey to effectively analyze how the employees feel about the current culture. What strategies can you recommend to effectively administer a new assessment to find out how employees view the culture of the organization currently? For example, would using specific types of assessments be important to the process? If so, how? To achieve mastery, please identify two best practices that can be used to administer a new survey. As you consider these strategies, what can also be done by the new manager to avoid biases in the data? Consider that the new manager will want to ensure that the data is not compromised during the survey process, so what can be done (i.e. specific types of questions, timing of the assessment). Project Resources: Unit Resources: Evaluating and Leveraging Data>The SAGE Handbook of Industrial, Work, and Organizational Psychology, Chapter 9>Measuring Organizational Culture and Climate The Resource, The SAGE Handbook of Industrial, Work, and Organizational Psychology, under the section, Measuring Organizational Culture and Climate provides an understanding of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches to cultural assessments. The resource identifies the benefits and challenges of various types of cultural assessments. Unit Resources: Evaluating and Leveraging Data>Video: Leveraging Organizational Culture> pages 2 and 3 of the transcript The video resource, Leveraging Organizational Culture on pages 2 and 3 of the transcript discusses quantitative and qualitative methods for cultural assessments including the types of questions that may be most appropriate for an assessment. The resources help in understanding the process of cultural analysis and culture as a whole (Segment 1). Unit Resources: Evaluating and Leveraging Data>Rating Scales>Forms The resource, Rating Scales under the heading Forms, provides discussion of several different types of rating scales that are used to measure employee opinions and perceptions in assessments.
3) Lists sources where needed using citation methods with no major errors. NOT MASTERED!!!!!
09/01/21 Since there are still a few areas that may require additional writing and research, your writing will be assessed as part of your next submission.
