NURS 8119 ETHICAL ISSUE DISCUSSION FORUM CASE PRESENTATION

Each student will choose an ethical situation observed or experienced in an advanced nursing practice clinical experience that lends itself to critical discussion and prepare a maximum of 10 slide PowerPoint not including the title and reference pages, and post it in the Ethical Issue Discussion Forum Case Presentation. Criteria for your approved ethical issue discussion forum case presentation are: Prepare a 10 to 12 slide PowerPoint, not including the title or reference slides, that presents your ethical issue and facilitates substantive discussion of your approved ethical issue. You must address the following in your PowerPoint: 10% Summarize the specific situation encountered in advanced practice. What are the relevant

medical facts and social factors of the situation? What specific ethical questions were raised in the situation?

15% What bioethical principle (including respect of autonomy, nonmaleficence, beneficence, or

justice) was deemed compromised in the situation? Describe the principle specifically related to this situation.

35% Review what is written about similar situations; using the literature, critically analyze the ethical

issue(s) surrounding the clinical situation you’ve observed/experienced.

10% Discuss the resolution(s) of the dilemma, including ideal and practical solutions. What were the actual outcomes of the situation you observed/experienced?

10% Discuss how understanding this issue might affect your future decision-making as an advanced

practice nurse. 20% Quality of the presentation – the PowerPoint is no longer than 12 slides not including the title and Reference (s) slides are of scholarly quality and follow the latest APA 7th edition format.

Both presentation and paper are of scholarly quality.
