The concept of organizational ethics is important to health care organizations because it sets standards to operate within. These standards are centered around operating the organization in a safe and ethically sound manner.
The owners and upper levels of leadership set organizational ethics. This is done so that leadership has a clear idea of how to operate the organization and can model appropriate behaviors, such as praising employees who speak up about potential ethical and safety issues. (Chassin, 2021)
Every nursing home and home health company I have ever worked for has had some form of organizational ethics. In most cases, I have been given a written copy of the organization's ethics and been asked to sign to verify that I have read them before beginning employment.
Organizational ethics should be evaluated regularly, at least once a year if not more. This should be done by upper management. It is part of management's duties to review and edit the organizations ethics when appropriate, as well as maintain these standards and share with the rest of the staff when changes occur.

Having an established set of ethical guidelines in healthcare can help determine which types of research can be conducted and which cannot. Ethics in health organizations can be stand as a barrier between research and crossing the line into gray areas where the rest of the general public is not necessarily willing to go. Organizational ethics express the value of an organization to its employees and/or other entities irrespective of governmental and/or regulatory laws. Ethics are the principles and values used by an individual govern their actions and decisions.
Leaders are responsible for shaping the Ethical policy of an organization.
The executive, in partnership with the governing body and clinical staff, must act with other responsible parties, such as a role model, fostering and supporting a culture that not only provides high-quality, value-driven healthcare but promotes the ethical behavior and practice.
It's important to have communication with staff about how organizational ethics apply to various forms of communication. Employees need guidance on how their jobs could create a conflict of interest.
The best way to measure the effectiveness of company's ethical standards is to observe the results of employee actions. when the company is able to establish and maintain a loyal and satisfied customer base, management has a sure indicator that employees are treating customers ethically. Leaders are responsible for shaping the ethical policy of an organization.
