Introduction

Various situations present instances of ethical dilemmas in workplaces, which lead to employees feeling as if they're caught in a situation that can best be described as being in the middle of the game. Instead of being consumed by futility, employees faced with various frustrating scenarios may opt instead for the initiation of articulated and thoughtful responses. Generally, most employees are always striving to abide by moral responsibility and code of ethics established in workplaces. Although, various conflicts experienced in workplaces may present a challenge with regards to the sense above through the invocation of fear; thus, bring up a collision with the element of job security which consequently necessitates a careful consideration by employees with regards to employing effective communication techniques through the navigation of troublesome issues (Bargerstock & Shi, 2018).

Case 1

This particular case involves my boss losing his expense report. Presented the situation I'm involved in, which entails me being the subordinate staff and my boss being the supervisor, this whole situation will necessitate the application of tact and subtlety—having knowledge of the statement made by class text authors regarding the fact that the relationships developed at workplaces are described as being less or more mandatory. In this particular case, I will have to prudently make an assumption that my boss actually lost his expense report and that in the process, he forgot to serve me with expenses receipts, and therefore I would be forced to respond accordingly. I would present my response politely through stating the fact that I would love to be in a position to complete the expense report for my boss and remind him that he didn’t serve me with the appropriate receipts required for the calculation of business expenses. In the case where his response indicates he wasn't in possession of these particular receipts, I would make an inquiry of the necessary steps that would ensure reimbursement without making an appearance that indicates that I might be violating the company rules. According to the authors, it presents an implication of a situation where the management of conflicts being not handled quickly, resulting in a scenario whereby employees end up feeling helpless. Generally, conflicts that present a scenario of an unequal position of power bring out a concern with regards to the subordinate staff. Thus, actions taken quickly may avert future scenarios like the one I’m presented with (Bargerstock & Shi, 2018).

Case 2

This particular case entails the concept of private life. In such a scenario, I would request my boss to make a schedule with me in discussing my duties concerning my job. I will have to make an introductory statement indicating that it is not within my jurisdiction to pass judgment regarding anyone's personal life, and indicate the situation I have been presented with is resulting in me being faced with a great deal of discomfort. I am basing on moral claims of conflict, the argument presented by Coleman and Deutsch the state that it is not the justification or presenting the reasons for ones' interest that present harm but rather the concept of moral superiority claim, which presents an implicit or explicit with regards to others moral denigration. The case I'm presented with moral superiority may not be achieved through conflict and anger. For instance, I might suggest perhaps I should be aware of his lunch location, which could derive more responsibility for his actions while I could honestly tell his wife that I wasn't aware of his husband's whereabouts (Clement, 2016).

Case 3

This case involves the inappropriate use of company resources. This case would cause a concern rather than just a raised eyebrow. However, I may not be presented with information that is enough to validate this situation as being a questionable expense. The fact is that managers in various situations are given very discrete expense accounts, so I would make a consideration may be in this particular scenario there may exist extenuating circumstances which would permit such spending. On the other hand, the manager may have had a realization of the fact that he wasn't in possession of enough cash at hand and ended up using the company's card. Maybe after the spending, he would notify the appropriate employee in order to make the necessary preparations (Ferencz-Kaddari et al., 2016).

Case 4

This case entails a private and confidential report regarding my company. Certainly, my actions would rely on the type of scandal that my company is involved in. If it's a situation presenting illegality and harm to the general public, I would definitely evoke the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act and speak up to the appropriate management within the company and the law enforcement agencies. With the intimidation presented with taking such a challenge, I would be doing a necessity that would present an anonymity reassurance that may result in encouraging my fellow employees in reporting wrongdoing. In the case where the company was working in the correction of the particular case, then I will have to enhance confidentiality.

Case 5

This is the case of the party Marty. I would let Mary know firmly that the criminal action presented bothers me despite the fact that I like her. This is because the whole situation isn't only wrong but also presents a danger that would be detrimental to both her reputation and her employment. Warren Buffet is among the greatest businessmen who points out that it would take 20 years to build a reputation that could be ruined in 5 years. I would make Mary know that this situation would call out for legal action alongside immediate termination in the case whereby she ends up being caught. I would make her make a consideration whether the action she was about to take was worthy with regards to ruining her reputation and ending her employment (Ferencz-Kaddari et al., 2016).
