Full Text: Local governments can once again receive financial support from the state for the energy efficiency of existing nursing homes. There is also a possibility to build nursing homes operating in newly constructed residential buildings. A total of about 9.5 million euro is foreseen in the budget. The renovation and creation of smaller nursing homes is preferred.

"It is extremely important that we create decent conditions for the elderly who can no longer cope with their own homes. There is a need for both the creation of new nursing homes as well as the existing innovations, and the state provides such assistance to local governments, "said Kaia Iva, the Minister of Social Affairs. "Care homes need to be accessible and at home, and the municipalities must surely be mindful of the fact that residents can also use other public services."

According to Janek Magg , the Minister of Public Administration, support is being sought from municipalities to create energy-efficient and well-equipped indoor living nursing homes. "We would like to have decent living conditions for nursing homes. It will also contribute to the achievement of climate policy objectives, creating prerequisites for further cost savings.
