Action research may be described as the wide range of evaluative, investigative, and perhaps analytical research methods that are well designed with the focus to provide answers to a given problem. I believe that action research alongside participatory methods will be highly applicable in my topic "Does exercise improve mental health" given that mental health problems have been rampant since 2019 after the outbreak of the infamous coronavirus deploying action research and appropriate participatory methodologies will help address the issues (Healthy Women Editors,2018).

Some of the factors I will consider before engaging in intensive research on the role of exercise with respect to improvement of mental health will include defining the problem under research, reviewing of literature, formulation of hypothesis, type of data that needs to be collected, a statistical tool to be used in analyzing collected data, methods of evaluating data to provide reliable outcomes and research reports and its validity  (Vaughn & Jacquez, 2020).

Since mental distress has affected varied groups of people, particularly adults of ages above 35 years old, I will make use of various research action and participatory methods to gather adequate knowledge about how exercise might be of good help to mental health more so to those people that have already developed mental issues. Some of the action research and participatory methods I will use include distributing surveys or questionnaire to a group of people who have been engaging in constant exercise and another group who have not been performing and any exercise so as to compare the data collected about mental issues in relation bodily exercises  (Vaughn & Jacquez, 2020). Through observing individuals and groups of people alongside the use of structured interviews, methods will make my research relevant. Another method that could of great help is the analysis of public documents to ascertain the content and statistics about the relationship between good mental health bodily exercise as a remedy for increased mental disturbances.
