Structure: 3 - 5 pages (typed, single-spaced, spell-checked, and grammatically correct), 5 citations: at least 3 from 3 different assigned articles). PENALTY FOR LATE PAPERS. You may double space your paper, but be sure to increase the number of pages to 6- 10. Attach an outline to your paper as well as the rubric.

Choose either A or B

A. Read the scenario. In your paper answer the following:

a. Was the university justified in suspending Jake Baker?

b. Was his arrest and jailing justified?

Choose a position and defend it using ethical principles and citations to support your view

B. SHU’s Board of Trustees considers a proposal to have IT implement CLASSITE®©, a system that monitors students’ laptop activity in classrooms. As with Blackboard and Web Advisor, instructors will have special rights. Most importantly, a complete record of student computer activity will be generated for every class session and instructors will be able to see that activity during a session or review it at a later date. A group of faculty members in favor of the proposal have testified that such a system will be beneficial, most notably by deterring inappropriate classroom use, e.g., instant messaging, web surfing, and cheating on tests. Because you are studying computer ethics, the Trustees have invited you to testify. Take a position, either in support or opposition, and defend that position using the three ethical theories and appropriate references. Address the issues of surveillance and privacy. Make sure to include counterarguments and your rebuttal to those arguments.
