1. Describe TWO ways that adolescents’ cognitive development is more advanced than school-age children. Use specific examples of cognitive development from chapter 7 section 2 and chapter 8 section 2 to illustrate your response.

2. Use chapter 9 section 3, to first describe the various forms identity development can take in emerging adulthood. Next, discuss the trends of leaving home among emerging adults of different ethnic backgrounds in the United States. How does this compare to those in European countries? Include pros and cons of “leaving the nest” in your answer. In addition to using your text, provide a personal example in your discussion.

3. Use chapter 10 section 1, to answer why rates of obesity are increasing among young adults in Western countries when this is still a relatively healthy part of the life span? In addition, discuss two of the following variables that have been linked to obesity: gender, ethnicity, and SES.
