Develop a thorough essay response to the prompt you select. Your essay response must be a minimum of a five (5) paragraph essay with three (3) point thesis statement. A longer response is fine, but not required. Essays will be graded based on content, grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Essays containing fragments, subject-verb agreement, comma splices, or run-on errors will receive the grade of an F.

You are required to address all the points and issues of the essay prompt that you select. You cannot pick and choose how much of a prompt you will write about and what you will omit. Be thorough in your response to all the issues required and asked by each essay choice.

Essays may be longer than five-paragraphs, but not shorter. Paragraphs must contain a minimum of 5 to 7 sentences. Paragraphs may be longer, but not shorter. Do not omit any of the required response points. Do not ramble and try to bull your way through this portion. This portion is intended to allow you the opportunity to demonstrate how well you have assimilated what you have read into knowledge regarding the historical, political and social aspects of the day and about the author and their work(s).

Essay choice 6:

Since the Age of Reason/Age of Enlightenment is documented to have taken place during the time period of approximately 1687-1793, is there any connection between it and the advent of Deism (developed in the 17th and 18th centuries) and/or “The Great Awakening” (impacting the colonies in the 1730’s and 1740’s)?
