Create the Title that Represents the Argument
Based on the journey of our research and essay analyses, i.e., “The Declaration” and “Civil Disobedience: Wise Minority Group Essays, write a visual analysis essay of at least five full typed pages (between 1,475 to 1,500 words), about an image of your choosing that you submitted to me. In your essay, you must accomplish the following to receive full credit for the visual interpretation component of the assignment.
· Image Description: In the introductory paragraph, describe the physical image, comprehensively demonstrating a full understanding of significant elements of the image.
· Explanation: In the first body paragraph, provide a well-developed explanation of the meaning or purpose of the image, fully supported by the evidence within the image.
· Make a Claim: Base your thesis (claim / argument) on the image and the message you choose to support.
· Consequences & Implications: Use the other body paragraphs to present a detailed, sophisticated discussion of consequences and/or implications of the visual image’s meaning.
Your essay will earn the highest points in the component area of written composition if it meets the following criteria:
· Context of and Purpose for Writing: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of context (setting, background, situation); audience (what individuals or group the image targets); and purpose of a visual analysis (the author’s persuasive claim, determination, intention).
· Content Development: Use appropriate, relevant, and compelling content (significance and clarity of the subject based on scholarly research) to illustrate mastery of the idea of visual analysis.
· Genre and Disciplinary Conventions: Properly format and organize the essay in MLA style.
· Sources and Evidence: Incorporate at least two citations in each paragraph from at least two library database sources.
· Control of Syntax and Mechanics (Grammar, Composition Sentence Structure, Spelling, Punctuation, Capitalization, And Paragraph Development):
With minimum errors and with clarity and fluency, use formal essay language that skillfully communicates meaning to the reader (your audience that you seek to persuade).
Please display your image by:

2. Place a large image on the page before the Works Cited. By pasting a large size image of your object, the reader can better determine the accuracy of your analysis.
A Five-Page Essay Is Not To Be Feared
Page 1:
Describe your image(s). This process prepares your reader for your platform. Describe the physical image, comprehensively demonstrating a full understanding of significant elements of the image. Your description will include the socio-political / cultural / historical message intended by the creator. Place your Thesis Statement after the description. It is okay if this information carries over into the following page.
Page 2 [this information will need more than one paragraph]:
Provide a well-developed explanation of the meaning or purpose of the image, fully supported by the evidence within the image. If your image is about “Bullying”, tell your reader what bullying is, and point to the references in the image. This is the information that supports your Thesis Statement. Base this information on scholarly research and include in-text citations. This information should take more than one page.

Consequences & Implications: Present a detailed, sophisticated discussion of consequences and/or implications of the visual image’s meaning. Include research on the rebuttal. What is the counterargument for your thesis? After you give the counterargument, state why the position you take (the thesis) is the better position.

Consequences & Implications: Present a detailed, sophisticated discussion of consequences and/or implications of the visual image’s meaning. Include research on the rebuttal. What is the counterargument for your thesis? After you give the counterargument, you are ready to write your conclusion.

Wrap up the research and write the conclusion. Remember, the conclusion restates the introduction and includes the thesis statement.
