On my first day of Community Service which were 3 hours max per day, I was placed in the thrift store/warehouse provided by the church. In the store I sorted, hung and priced clothes that were donated from individuals all over the community and county. We sorted clothes by sweater, dresses, shirt, pants, jacket, shoes etc. After clothes are priced which ranged from $1.00-$4.00 they were hung in the store for purchase. During the sorting process I had to ensure the clothes were decent to give to individuals in need. I was told” if you wouldn’t wear it, don’t tag it.”

On my second day of services I was placed in the Outreach program. It was a kitchen filled with all types of groceries. My task was to distribute food to individuals who were on the list to be serviced that day. Most individuals are required to come every two weeks for pick up. Food is provided by household size. Each house were provided with two boxes. One box contained dairy products which were eggs, milk, cheese, and also included fresh vegetable. The second box contained bread, cereal, canned beef, canned goods, two goodies, and whole grain rice or pasta. When the members name came up on the screen to be service we will walk the boxes out to them and place them in their cars a well. The outreach program also provided hygiene packages. The packages had your ususal, deodarant, soap, toothpaste toothbrush, razors, tampons, pads. Men hygiene products were similar but also, they were provided with shaving cream, mouthwash, etc. Families with children were also provided with diapers, tissue, and shampoo for babies.

On my third day of servicing the community. Was a pretty simple task I was placed in housing where I signed the families in and out checked temperatures upon entry and also wrote down their reason for living and the time they will return. Some families took their children on family outings and others were actually on the way to work. I was very happy to see that the program had already provided resources for children and families to also do outside the church.

On my last day I was placed back in outreach, I requested to do be placed at the daycare however due to covid I could not.
