STEM Proposal Argument Essay

The ocean is one of the most beautiful and mysterious place in the world. We have mapped out the earth moon, Mars, Titans surface but only mapped out 5% of the ocean floor. There is so much left to explore but how are we going to do that when we are killing the ocean with pollution? There is a trash site so big it is twice the size of Texas outnumbering sea life 6 to1. How have we let this become such a huge problem and why are we not looking at a better way to fix this problem. I believe that if find a way to reprocess and create products we can use to sell to encourage people to buy, I believe we will start to create a movement to help save the earth Oceans.

There is tons of debris out in the ocean that will take over 500 years to break down. 79% of the debris goes to either landfills or the ocean, 12% gets incinerated but only 9% get recycled. What if we start with the collection of debris and use a process in order to break the debris down and turn it into something fashionable. Sea2See is a company who collects ocean debris and turns it into sunglass. The company uses fisher men to collect the trash out in the ocean, the company provides these fishermen with free sunglasses for their service.

Another way that ocean pollution can be prevented is by having these same companies that produced plastic for thing such as bottles, utensils and other things to go out there and collect the plastic that is already out there so they could stop reproducing more plastic and start recycling the plastic already produced.

I also believe by making it a standard within company to have a system that collect and reprocess the ocean debris. If we can find a way to collect as much debris as possible from the ocean and at the same time setting governmental rules that require every place to have a way to recycle their materials then we can actually get our oceans back.

By collecting, recycling and remanufacturing I believe we can get the ocean at par it will take a while but I believe if companies would actually start to recycle their own products I do believe that there will be less trash in the ocean.
