Essay 2 Prompt

Introduction

An argument generally consists of multiple viewpoints. In fact, the lack of multiple viewpoints, would prove that that there is no argument at all. The debate between these opposing sides is what can, hopefully, foster change and growth within society. Critical thought feeds and grows off of the potential outcome of this debate. Therefore, as a critical thinker, it is imperative that you develop your ability to see multiple sides of the debate, regardless of which side you ultimately agree with.

Assignment

For essay two, you will take aspects of the different perspectives from your group work and formulate your own perspective in response to the question that your group was assigned. This is not a summary/recap of your presentation. But an opportunity to isolate your own opinion from the group. So, you may have a similar thesis, however, it should be not be verbatim.

You will use your own voice, combined with your group’s research, to validate your own answer to the casebook’s question.

You may find it necessary to conduct a minimal amount of additional research.

Requirements

The introduction and thesis statement should be concise. As you do not need to establish in depth context or research. Only provide the background question that is sparking this debate and your initial thoughts on the topic.

Your support and evidence should be more clearly laid out. As you need to ensure that the POV taken is clear and logical. While you may use the same evidence/research from your group presentation, it is important that you adjust the analysis/explanation to your own voice.

In total, your argument should reach 4-5 pages. And, as always, MLA formatting, with citations and a Works Cited Page are required.

The rough draft is due 11/13.

Peer review is due 11/16.

The final draft is due 11/18.
