The prompt for Essay 2 can be found as the next two items in the module (as a word and a pdf doc. It is also reproduced here:
ESSAY 2
Write an essay in response to one of the following prompts.
PROMPT:
Write a 4 to 6 page thesis-driven essay in which you take a position on this question : Should police departments be defunded/abolished?
Your position can be for or against or somewhere in between.
Your thesis statement should provide a clear answer to the question, and your paragraphs should begin with arguable topic sentences giving reasons for your position.
Be sure to quote directly from the texts you are discussing.
Your paper should refer to at least two of the sources from our module on the topic and should include a counterargument to your position and a rebuttal of the counter argument.

ALTERNATIVE PROMPT:
Write a 4 to 6 page thesis-driven essay in which you compare any two or three of the assigned texts from the illness unit. For example, how are the attitudes towards sickness described in Foucault’s “Stultifera Navis” and Leviticus 13 similar and/or different from Virginia Woolf’s in “On Being Ill”?
Your thesis should describe the particular similarities and/or differences, and your body paragraphs should develop and explain them.
Direct quotations from the texts should be used as evidence. You do not need to include a counter argument and rebuttal for this essay unless you wish to.

The paper should be in MLA format and include a Works Cited list. It is worth 150 points in the Writing Assignments category.
The first draft is due 11/03 and the final draft is due 11/16.
