Select ONE of the following prompts:
Option 1: Use the poetry websites and poems linked in the weekly modules to find two poems that address the same theme or main idea. Write an essay comparing and contrasting their treatment of that theme. Consider the poems' diction, structure, imagery, poetic devices, and cultural/historical context.

Requirements
Your essay should:
· be formatted in MLA (12 pt font, double-spaced), with an MLA header, heading, and interesting title.
· fully address one of the prompts above
· begin with an introduction with a hook, TAG (title, author, genre), and a thesis statement that makes an arguable claim in answer to the prompt.
· contain 4-6 body paragraphs focusing on one supporting idea each, with topic sentences and evidence from the poems/artwork. If you choose Option 1, you should include at least four quotations from the poems (two each).
· include a quote and/or paraphrase from a reliable secondary (research) source.
· use the point-by-point or block format organizational structure.
· end with a conclusion discussing the significance of your analysis.
· include MLA in-text citations and an MLA Works Cited page listing the citations for the poem(s)/artwork/secondary sources used in the paper.
· Online study guides such as SparkNotes and Shmoop are not acceptable sources for college-level papers, and any paper using these sources will not receive higher than a grade of C. Online (non-library) sources must end in .edu, .org, or .gov.
· be 3-5 double-spaced pages long.
