Arts in Education

Art classes, especially for 9-12, K-8 classes are very important to the kids and should be kept. According to the journal of Art Education, the author, Jack Davis argues that art education is very important to kids as it helps intensify their motivation to learn, and promotes better school attendance which leads to increased rates of student graduation, increased creativity in critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and improved multicultural understanding (Davis, n.d). In the book Engaging Learners Through Artmaking, the authors argue that engaging students in art education are very important as it helps students to share different ways of teaching hence opening the classroom to accommodate students' choices (Douglas, & Jaquith, 2018). This promotes student learning abilities hence achieving higher education standards.

The two scholarly sources (Art Education and Engaging Learners through Artmaking) selected for this assignment are credible and do not have any biases as they argue with facts. The sources are written by well-known and respected experts in the field of art education who engages in field studies and research before coming up with conclusions on the topic of study. Other sources on the same topic such as Why arts education is crucial, and who's doing it best by Fran Smith who is a researcher in Edutopia, a nonprofit, nonpartisan, private foundation that deals with a strategic approach to improving K-12 education, verify the credibility of the arguments from the two sources (Smith, 2009).

Scholarly sources can be trusted because they are written by experts in those specific fields who have plenty of knowledge and information concerning the topic. Also, scholarly sources usually the most rigorous review process by other experts in the same field to ensure they can be trusted. Scholarly sources also make references or citations from other experts who work in the same field of study.
