 Requirements:

1.      Type of writing expected – Narrative and Descriptive 2.      length requirements – 500 words 3.      formatting requirements – MLA format 4.      documentation format – No Citations necessary 5.      amount or type of research expected – None

 

Objective:   The focus of this first essay will be on descriptive or narrative. You have two options regarding the subject matter:

Option #1

You are to create a Utopia or Dystopia City. It can be made up of fantasy or reality. “Describe where it is located?” “Who lives there?” “What kind of lifestyle?” Use your imagination. This is a fun assignment.

Remember to include a theme for your city, and to be as descriptive as possible in your creation.

Option #2

Write a narrative from Brently Mallard's point of view considering the events of "The Story of the Hour".  What is going on in his mind?  How does his personality affect the plot?  What conclusion might he have come to at the ending of the story. 

Evaluation Criteria

 

· The most important thing is that you fully use your writing skills to examine the works of literature.

· I will be looking to see how well you use the primary texts as examples in your essay.

· I am not looking for grammatical perfection, but the essay must be readable and free of mechanical errors that distract your reader.

All these criteria will be considered in light of the Gordon Rule Rubric.
