Perhaps the chief ethical issue raised by  The Qualities of a Prince is the question of whether the desired ends justify the means used to achieve them. 

· Write a 3 -4 page essay in which you take a stand on this question. Begin by defining the issue. What does the concept “the end justifies the means” actually mean?  What difficulties may arise when unworthy means are used to achieve worthy ends? 

Use  the excerpt chapters from The Prince, “The Deep Democratic Tradition in America, as well as historical or personal examples in order to help synthesize and analyze your argument.  You will have 3 referenced sources with in text citations and a Works Cited page.

· Your essay should be in MLA 9 format (one inch margins, 12 point font, double spaced). Develop your ideas completely. Use 1 – 2 referenced sources.
