ESSAY: This draft should be at least 3 pages long. The final draft should be 4 pages and include a works cited page and citations from 2 sources and cite 3-4 times throughout the essay.

Essay Prompt: What your essay should be about.

Write an essay agreeing or disagreeing with one of the writers you have read from the TSIS text or one of the speakers from the NPR debate.

You should be fully aware of what others think about college education and how each argues for his or her view. Now that you know what other’s think, consider what you think. Where does your opinion fit into this conversation? Do you side with any of the author’s views? Who do you agree with and why? Who do you disagree with and why? What experience, observations or insight can you add to this conversation? It’s YOUR TURN to ENTER THE CONVERSATION!

Once you decide where you stand, make your claim or thesis and back it up with reasons and evidence. You may want to reference or quote the writer’s or speakers to use their words or ideas as support for your argument. You might consider using their argument, reasons or evidence as the opposing side of your view and choose to highlight that opposition, so that you can show the gaps, or flaws in the author’s reasoning. Either way, you should reference or cite at least 2 different writers or speakers we have read or heard. You should have at least 3-4 citations in your essay. You may research outside of what we have read. If you cite outside of what we have read, you must include that source in your final works cited page. An example works cited page is on page 168 in The little Seagull Handbook 3rd Edition.
