Personal development plan: Resilience and self-care in healthcare

1. Adequate rest

Having adequate rest as an individual is very important because having Adequate health care can help you think well helps you function well, especially in the health care field we need to have appropriate rest because every time we go to work we have to use our heads and also we have to be able to keep up with a lot of things. Furthermore a good example would be a situation you just came back from a long 12hr shift and then you get back home you don’t have enough rest and remember that you have to get back to work in the next five hours but you realize that you have literally just had just two hours of sleep there is no way that you would be able to work that next shift without feeling tired or not being able to function well.

2. Healthy boundaries

When I say healthy boundaries I am talking about between school life and work because one thing about us health care professionals is being able to have a good balance between the three of them when you have a good work life balance then you would be able to be stress free I am not saying that you won’t have days that you feel overly stressed but then you always have to realize that you need to have days that you should be able to have that in between.

3. Self-reflection

Self-reflection is something that is very useful in the healthcare field because after a good day self-reflection that can help you know what you need to do better and also it can help you improve on what you need to do as an individual in the health carer field. SMART GOALS

1. Adequate rest

Goal: for the next 4 weeks. I will obtain at least 6hrs for at least 5 nights each week then follow a good bedtime routine.

Professional development: Having better sleeping habits will help me perform better as a nurse and help me perform my duties better A good example would be that after she come back from work every day she will make sure they get at least 5-6 hours a day before she gets up to do anything and they will use a sleep tracking app to record the time they went o bed and the times they woke up.

2. Healthy boundaries

Goal: I will; make sure at the beginning of the week to set a timetable to make sure I have time that I will focus on my studies, then sort out my work schedule and most importantly put in some time for myself. Professional development: learning to be also able to establish boundaries will definitely help in my profession because it would help in balancing my responsibilities. An example of how a personal development plan can help achieve this is by now setting specific times for studying while also making sure I have gotten enough rest.

3. Self-Reflection

Goal: I will keep a journal with by my bed table and try to journal down things or events that happen during the week at least twice a week Professional Development: Doing this habit I believe will help me become more accountable and also make me become more self-aware.

Having a personal development plan because having those can of plans makes your goals very achievable and helps in so much improvement A good example would supporting my academic process and also preparing for my nursing career having a good structure personal development plan will very much help in being able to achieve my dreams.
