Essay 1 (15 points): A Monster Profile Context: Last quarter, we talked more about monsters in novels and film. This quarter, we’re approaching the topic from a different perspective to look at the reality behind some of our favorite monsters and how their history across multiple cultures. Much like Weinstock, Sugg, and Haggerty & Ellerbrok have done, you will also write a profile of a specific “monster.” Assignment: Research and create a profile for a creature. Your profile should include: an image, basic information/history, interesting facts, rituals or practices, lifestyle differences, popular and/or scientific theories, their “relative” creatures, major events in history, and pop culture representations. Requirements:

● MLA formatted page settings, in-text citations, and Works Cited entries ● A minimum of 5-6 sources (not including a source for a picture or illustration) ● Incorporate the characteristics of the “profile” genre, ​such as ​those we identified in class

Due Dates: 23 January: List of categories with at least one “good” source found (see example on page 2) 28 January: List of categories with sources for each category and summaries established 30 January: Final editing draft, citations check, etc.
