Essay Topic: Write a 4-paragraph narrative essay about a time that you learned something new that changed you in some way. Use the Outline for Essay 1 as your guide to write your paper. This is a personal paper, so it is okay to us the words “I” or “me” as you write in first person. Please check for grammar, spelling and punctuation prior to submission.
· Paragraph 1: Introduction (3-4 sentences)
· Introduce your story. Try to get the reader’s attention.
· Tell us about what you didn’t know or needed to learn?
· Include your thesis statement. The thesis statement should be the last sentence in this paragraph. Final thesis statement should include suggested changes from instructor .
· Paragraph 2: Support Paragraph (3-4 sentences)
· Introduction sentence
· Discuss what you learned. How did you learn this? Who or what experience taught this to you? Why was it important for you to learn this?
· Conclusion sentence
· Paragraph 3: Support Paragraph (3 – 4 sentences)
· Introduction sentence
· How has what you learned changed your life?
· How are you using what you learned? Give examples. What are the benefits of what you’ve leaned? Elaborate.
· Conclusion sentence
· Paragraph 4: Conclusion Paragraph (3-4 sentences)
· Summarize and restate thesis
· Summarize and restate main points from support paragraphs
· End with conclusion sentence
